Vaun Hall
Partner
Vaun Hall is a partner with the law firm Uintah Basin Law Group. His practice areas include medical malpractice defense, professional licensing, personal injury negligence law, and torts. Mr. Hall graduated from the University of Utah and the J. Reuben Clark School of Law at Brigham Young University. Following law school, Mr. Hall worked for six-years with the Washoe County Public Defender’s Office in Reno, Nevada. During his service in Washoe County, Mr. Hall was elected President of the Washoe County Public Attorneys’ Association (1999-2000). As a Public Defender, Mr. Hall was lead counsel in more than 50 trials.
In 2001, Mr. Hall returned to his native Utah and has served as legal counsel to Utah’s medical professional liability insurers. His clients include University of Utah Health Care System, Copic Insurance, Pediatrix, MedPro, Sedgwick, Trisura, Gallagher Bassett Healthcare, CHS, and Western Litigation Specialists, as well as other local and national professional medical liability insurers. Mr. Hall is a member of the Utah Society of Healthcare Risk Management, and Utah Defense Lawyers Association. Mr. Hall also represents personal injury clients in all types of accident cases with the exception of medical malpractice.

Dave Ference
Partner
He has served as legal counsel to some of Utah’s largest medical professional liability insurers for more than twenty-nine years. Dave's clients include Copic, Liberty Mutual, Iron Shore, University of Utah, Pediatrix, Intermountain Healthcare, MedPro, Gallagher Bassett Healthcare, Florida Physicians Insurance Corporation, Fresenius Healthcare, General Electric, Western Litigation, National Association of Social Workers, Enve Composites, and TrueView Money.
Dave is a member of the Utah Society of Healthcare Risk Management and the Utah Defense Lawyers Association. He enjoys endurance sports, following Chelsea Football Club, and spending time with his wife, Marilyn, his three children, and his six grandchildren.

Jacob Nelson
Partner
Jacob Nelson graduated cum laude from the University of Utah in 2014 with a business degree in marketing and immediately continued his education at the University of Utah, S.J. Quinney College of Law, where he graduated in 2017.
During law school, he participated in several moot court competitions, received several academic awards, and was also invited to assist other students as a teaching assistant, where he had the opportunity to help fellow law students learn the art of legal writing.
Mr. Nelson maintains a multi-faceted practice and enjoys helping clients avoid, navigate, and resolve complex legal problems in a variety of commercial and civil litigation practice areas. Currently, he enjoys representing clients in personal injury claims and lawsuits, defending medical malpractice claims, assisting with new business formations, drafting and reviewing contracts, and resolving business disputes. He also has experience assisting clients with drafting, interpreting, and enforcing contracts as well as advising clients regarding compliance and liability avoidance.
Jacob's diverse experience litigating cases as counsel for both injured plaintiffs and healthcare defendants gives him unique insight in evaluating cases and strategically pursuing optimal outcomes for clients on both sides of complex injury cases.
He has experience litigating high value and complex legal matters and has represented clients in many types of legal proceedings, including private negotiations and settlements, small claims court, administrative hearings, mediation, arbitration, lawsuits in state and federal court, and (if necessary) appeals.
Outside of work, Jake enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He is also an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fly-fishing, hunting, golf, and music.

Jessica Reed
Associate Attorney
Jessica Reed joined Campbell, Ference, Nelson, and Hall as an associate attorney in 2023. Jessica grew up in Star Valley, Wyoming, and after high school served a mission for her church in Mexico City. She later attended Utah State University, where she met her husband.
After graduating from Utah State, Jessica attended the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law. During law school, she gained valuable experience clerking for Judge McClellan of Utah’s Eighth Judicial District Court and later working for a local law firm in Vernal. Jessica graduated from law school with honors in 2023.
During her time in Vernal, Jessica fell in love with the Uintah Basin and the close-knit community, ultimately deciding to make Vernal her permanent home. She was drawn to the area by its natural beauty and the opportunity to raise her family close to loved ones while building her legal practice.
Jessica is dedicated to providing thoughtful, diligent, and personalized legal representation to clients throughout the Uintah Basin. Her practice has primarily focused on family law, while also encompassing estate planning and other areas of law as her practice continues to grow. She enjoys representing individuals and families throughout the Uintah Basin and helping clients navigate a variety of legal matters.
Outside of the office, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband and their two sons. As a family, they love hiking, camping, and attending sporting events, especially cheering on the Utah State Aggies!

Tyson Woodford
Associate Attorney
Tyson R. Woodford is an attorney at Uintah Basin Law Group, where he represents clients in personal injury cases and business disputes. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Wyoming and his Juris Doctor from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University. Before joining UBLG, he spent several years practicing insurance defense in Wyoming, handling wrongful death, trucking, and oil-and-gas cases. That experience gave him an inside view of how insurance companies manage and defend catastrophic injury claims, knowledge he now brings to representing individuals in the Uintah Basin.
Outside the office, the Woodfords are a soccer family: the kids play, Tyson coaches, and most weekends you'll find them on the pitch. They're also devoted Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls fans.

Michael Roche
Associate Attorney
Mike Roche is an associate with Uintah Basin Law Group. He primarily practices family law. Mike graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas William H. Boyd School of Law in 2012, where he was a staffer for the Nevada Law Journal. He also interned with the ACLU of Nevada and the UNLV Office of General Counsel. After graduating from law school, Mike worked for the Office of Recovery Services establishing child support orders before he transitioned into private practice with the firm in 2026.
Mike enjoys television, video games, chatting with friends, and exploring the outdoors. He moved to Vernal in January, 2026, and is grateful for tips on hiking and camping spots.

Stephanie Mills
Nurse Paralegal
Stephanie has worked in medical malpractice since 2023, where she draws on her clinical background as a registered nurse to assist with the medical aspects of complex litigation. Prior to entering the legal field, she gained clinical experience in emergency nursing, intensive care, and interventional radiology. Stephanie graduated magna cum laude from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Outside of work, Stephanie is the proud mother of three grown sons and grandmother of two, with another grandchild on the way. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing games, going to the gym, and learning the finer points of living with her cat, Sammy.

Alyssa Christensen, RN
Nurse Paralegal
Alyssa Christensen is a nurse paralegal with Campbell Ference Nelson & Hall. After earning her nursing degree in 2016, she gained clinical experience in both the ER and ICU at Level I and Level II Trauma Centers. She also served as a House Supervisor overseeing hospital-wide clinical services.
Working as a Registered Nurse Paralegal since joining the firm in 2025, Alyssa has focused on assisting in the defense of healthcare providers. Related to her prior clinical experience, Alyssa takes allegations against medical professionals seriously and draws on her firsthand clinical experience to carefully investigate claims, understand the realities of medical decision-making, and assist the firm's attorneys in vigorously defending healthcare providers.
Outside of work, Alyssa is a mom to two young children who keep her busy and bring plenty of fun to life beyond the office.

Andrea “Dre” Carrier BSN, RN
Nurse Paralegal
Dre graduated from the University of Utah’s nursing program in 2011. Dre began her nursing career as an operating room nurse for an ophthalmologist in Southern California and later transitioned to the Emergency Department where she gained experience working for multiple trauma centers over 7 years. She has experience in occupational nursing and for Instacares in Utah County. She is transitioning into the field of Nurse Paralegal and is excited for this new challenge and opportunity to grow her nursing career.
In her down time she enjoys hiking and traveling. Her current favorite place to travel is Southern Utah.

Britni Gaertner
Paralegal
Britni has been in the legal field since 2015. She graduated in 2020 from Utah Valley University with a bachelor's degree in legal studies. She graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the Woodbury School of Business' outstanding student of the year award. As a paralegal, she has extensive experience in family law, including divorce and adoption, business law, estates and probate law, and various other civil litigation and transactional areas of law. In her spare time, Britni enjoys spending time with her family.

Pam Hepworth
Paralegal
Pam has been in the legal field since 1999 and joined Campbell Ference Nelson & Hall in 2020.
Pam began her legal career assisting attorneys practicing in various types of law and later transitioned to working as a paralegal. She is experienced in family law, civil litigation, business formation, estate planning and probate, personal injury, medical malpractice and adoption law (which is her favorite--and why not?!).
Pam graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Humanities, focusing on English and Art History; she enjoys traveling, art and culture of all kinds, especially the theater, cooking for a crowd, entertaining, playing board games and being with friends, family and her darling cavapoo, Juno.

Aly Stephenson
Legal Assistant
Aly has been with the firm since 2023 and serves as the Legal Assistant in our Millcreek office. She assists our attorneys and paralegals with scheduling, drafting and filing legal documents, and generally keeping things on track. Aly graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and is passionate about social justice and human rights. In her free time, she enjoys reading, reality tv, volleyball, and time with loved ones.

Lydia Colburn
Office Manager
Lydia has been with Campbell, Ference, Nelson & Hall since 2022 and serves as the Office Manager. She oversees the firm's day-to-day operations, helping ensure the office runs efficiently and effectively. She plays an integral role in supporting the firm's attorneys, clients, and staff as she strives to build and maintain a professional and welcoming environment.
She graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a bachelor's degree in illustration and enjoys drawing and painting in her spare time as well as baking, knitting, and reading.

Deidre Daniel
Secretary
Deidre joined the office in 2023 and serves as our secretary, providing administrative support to the attorneys, staff, and clients. Her responsibilities include coordinating schedules, managing client communications, assisting with document preparation, organizing case materials, and helping with the day-to-day operations of the office. She works closely with the team to keep things organized and help ensure the office runs smoothly.
She enjoys the variety that comes with working in a busy law office and the opportunity to assist clients throughout their time with the firm. Working behind the scenes, she helps with many of the administrative details that keep the office moving from day to day.
Outside of work, she is a busy mom of two. She enjoys spending time with her family, her kitties, audiobooks, listening to music, and going on adventures with her family.

Grace Piggott
Law Clerk
Grace Piggott has been a law clerk at Campbell, Ference, Nelson & Hall since 2025. She helps the office run smoothly by taking care of the errands and tasks that allow everyone else to focus on their work. She is always happy to step in wherever needed and provide support to make the day-to-day workload a little easier for the entire team.
This fall Grace will be pursuing an associate's degree in accounting at Salt Lake Community College. Outside of the office and school, she enjoys being active and spending time outdoors through a variety of hobbies. Her favorites include golfing, snowboarding, and dancing.

Charles Caine
Law Clerk
Charles joined Campbell, Ference, Nelson & Hall in early 2026 and enjoys his role as a law clerk. He is currently studying for the LSAT and will soon apply to law school.
He recently graduated from BYU, where he double majored in Neuroscience and Portuguese. In his spare time, he enjoys watching sports, hiking, and skiing.

Cynthia Campbell Erickson
Of Counsel
Cynthia Campbell Erickson began practicing in the field of medical malpractice defense in 1984. She graduated from Utah State University, with honors, in 1979, and from the J. Reuben Clark School of Law at Brigham Young University, with honors, in 1984. While in law school she was a member of the National Moot Court Team. She and her father, Richard W. Campbell, formed a law partnership in 1992, focusing their work primarily on defending Utah health care providers against claims of medical negligence. She has been a partner with the firm since that time. She continues to focus her practice at Uintah Basin Law Group in the areas of litigation, arbitration and mediation of health care malpractice claims. Ms. Erickson is a member of Utah Defense Lawyers Association, Defense Research Institute, and the litigation section of the Utah State Bar.
